Recruit Kilroy TK50167 reported for duty on his first troop.

Date: 11-30-2012
Location: Disney World in Orlando Florida
Mission: Troop the Disney Christmas Parade

—————————————————————————————————————————————

Trooper Log:

The morning of the event me and trooper TK3054 teamed up and headed to our mission location. We arrived at the STOLport location and checked in with legion commanders shortly after we had our gear inspected by Disney K-9 security. We then stowed our gear and boarded a charter bus that took us to the back lot of Disney.

The troops gathered their gear and headed into the change room and began to gear up in our armor. The room looked like a dance studio with mirrors all around us. Once the armor was on we headed out to the back lot where we rehearsed a few time and then I was time to start the parade.

The gate opens I am located near the end of the line of four wide troops. The whistle blows and we start to march. My view such as it is was exciting as I marched through the gate and started to see faces from people clapping and cheering us on as we moved on by. Being this was my first troop as a 501st member I was both nervous and excited but I knew I was with a great group of people that would make me look good just by being there. We marched on until we hit the main street. The castle towering behind us and the parade fans lined the streets. The announcer shouted orders from the front and we proceeded to execute our routines as directed. After we fulfilled our orders we then were ordered to return to the staging area but do it in what’s now called a Trooper Jog. Something I have never tried they are asking us to run in armor. The moment the order came down I saw troopers in front of me check all their gear to ensure nothing fell off during the Jog. The whistle blew and we were off. We jogged the length of the main street and around the bend and through the gate. We could now walk back to the staging are where we changed back into our street cloths and loaded the bus and head back to our cars. Just like that we had completed our mission and we were done.

That’s it folks that’s a breakdown of how our day went and it was fun, exciting and I loved every minute of it. I will include some links to picture and videos at the end of this post including a picture that shows where I am at in the line.

Hello everybody, well I had been at a stand still for a bit but I am back on the project. I have ordered all the remaining pieces and have completed the top and middle parts of the costume as seen in the photo provided. I am now working on the leg pieces and for some reason I am struggling with this. I  just can’t seem to wrap my head around a starting point. but I will push on and try and get it done before the weekend is gone. My hope is to get the Armor completed and Accepted before the next Art Walk in Jacksonville, Fl but we shall see. The photo is kind of grainy because it was taken in low light on my Iphone 3GS. Ya i am getting the 4GS at some point as it has a better camera lol… So that it for now and i hope my next  post will me be in a complete Stormtrooper Aromor suite. From then on it will be post about Troops that I will be doing with images to go with them.

Taking a break

As the title state its time to slow down. Take a day or two off and enjoy some entertainment. Working on this project as fun as it is can be a bit stressful when you get to a point where any modification you now make can have bad consequences if you make a mistake. This is why we slow down and take a breath. it’s so easy to get excited and work swiftly to try and complete the project but the instructions are clear “Slow Down” so that what i am doing now. I am at a point where every modification i make counts and is visible so i have to move slow and take my time.

So every second Wednesday of the month Jacksonville host the Art Walk downtown ( link provided below). The 501st always shows up down there to entertain the fan and meet new folks and spread the word. So i decided to head on down with Lyndon (the 4 year old) and Kat ( the step daughter)

Kat with a Trooper

to take in the the sights and sounds of the Jacksonville Art Walk. One thing for sure is there is not a lack of things to see both in the Art and the people walking the streets. its a strange feeling when you are walking down the street and you hear rap music on one corner and progressive on the other. you then round the corner and see other types of music being played. the air is just filled with worldly music and when you least expected you see Darth Vader and a troop of Storm Troopers escorting him down the street. how awesome is that, what a sight and all the other star wars costume that walk along side Vader. Lyndon was aw struck and wanted to shake all their hands. crowds of people start to line up for photos when the Troop comes to a stop. smiles and giggles abound, small kids to grown adults all taking in the sight and enjoying the evening.

Lyndon as IronMan

So we walked around and ended night eating some Viva Mexican food, yum and fun. Now i will take a few more day away from the project and hit it refreshed and ready to roll.

Tonight I worked on putting the belt together and mounting it to the abdomen plate. This was a pretty easy part of the project. I just had to make some measurements, do a little paint work, hot glue and a few drilled holes and I was ready to attach all the parts together. this was rather relaxing and fun compared to the stress of putting together the Helmet.  Tomorrow I plan to complete the belt and trim out the Abdomen plate and then move on to the chest and back plates. No picture tonight maybe tomorrow.
